Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross – (14.9.23)

The feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated in a meaningful way as we students, staff and sisters stand under the banner of the Holy Cross. The sisters were made to feel special as they were accompanied by angels to the general assembly. Students would have been definitely enlightened by the message of the Cross ‘The Cross is not a symbol of shame and defeat, but a sign of freedom and victory.’ Sr. Fatima thanked and wished the entire community ‘A very Happy Feast.’

Teacher’s day – (5.9.23)

All the teaching and the non-teaching staff of all the four institutions were welcomed with sandal and kumkum for the Eucharistic Celebration which was presided by Rev. Fr. John Selvam, the vice chancellor of our diocese, after which we had the celebrations in our respective institutions. The students of Std XII under the guidance of the teachers and in collaboration with all the classes from Std I organized a very grand programme for the teachers to express their love and gratitude. Our Headmistress shared a beautiful message – the Ubuntu Philosophy – “I am because of who we all are.”

Sports Day – (25.8.23)

A big thanks to our Almighty Father for His protection and guidance throughout the practice and on the Sports Day. The painstaking efforts of our teachers crowned the event with great success. We were honoured to have Mr. M. Pradeep John as our chief guest, our correspondent Sr. Malar, the sisters of the community, PTA members, well-wishers and all our dear parents. The chief guest Mr. Pradeep John, his wife, our former student Mrs. Sylvia John were in great appreciation of all the events.

Independence Day – (15.8.23)

Holy Cross A.I.Hr.Sec.School, Holy Cross Girls’ Hr.Sec.School, Holy Cross Primary School, Holy Cross Special School had a joint celebration of the 77th Independence Day of our nation. Professor Thirumathi. Karpagavalli of the English department – Kamarajar College hoisted the flag and presided over the function. A variety entertainment programme from the various institutions was a great feast to our eyes specially the dance that depicted the bravery of the famous freedom fighter Rani Laxmi Bai.

Mother Foundress Day – (10.8.233)

We celebrated our Mother Foundress Day with great love and fervor. Sisters took charge of the Assembly and trained a good number of students to present the virtues of our dear Foundress. We were able to impart the life lessons of our Foundress to our dear students and staff.

English SLA – (27.7.23)

The English Students Literary Association organized a programmed stressing the importance of the English language and to ensure that they learn to express themselves in English. It was a variety entertainment programme which encourages one to improve her speaking and listening skills. A spellbee contest was conducted at the end and the students were awarded prizes. The chief guest Varshini of XII Bio gave an excellent speech on the importance of the English language.

CROSA – (14.7.23 & 15.7.23)

The Old Students Association of our school, in its endeavor to inspire learners and develop the competitive spirit organized the interschool literary and cultural meet. Designed to motivate the students to be better learners and innovative thinkers, CROSA 23 invited more than 900 students in and around Thoothukudi. We were happy to see the talent and skill of all our young learners distributed in various schools. Holy Cross A.I.Hr.School bagged the Senior Trophy and we were the runners for the Junior Trophy.

Educational Development Day – (13.7.23 & 15.7.23)

The 121st birthday of Kamarajar was clelbrated with a very meaningful assembly organized by the students of XI Bio portraying the greatness of this powerful leader who worked nobly for the cause of education. A quiz was conducted on the life and works of Kamarajar and students participated enthusiastically. On July 15th a number of competitions were conducted across the state. Our school provided a platform for conducting speech and essay competitions and winners of the competitions were applauded.

Outreach Programmed by Std XI – (8.7.23)

The students of Std XI went to the Spastic Home for children to Annaikarai as a part of their outreach programme. It was a place worth taking for these young students who realized deep within God’s unfathomable love in their own lives and to think of ways of helping the unfortunate ones. Students wholeheartedly contributed towards this cause and entertained them.

The inauguration of the Students Literary Association was presided by our Crossian Mrs. Rekha, P.G.Asst(Eng) of St. Aloysious Girls Hr.Sec.School. We had programmes inviting students to come out of their comfort zones not only to shine but also to love and serve the humanity.

Investiture is an important event held at the beginning of every academic year. Our young emerging leaders took up their roles pledged that they would uphold the school motto through their integrity and service.

Teachers’ Orientation Programme – (23.6.23)

The Orientation programme was led very effectively by Fr. Suresh Raj, a Capuchin and a resource person of the Anugraha Capucin Institute for counselling and psychotherapy and the director of the de-addiction centre at Sivagangai. He highlighted how are physical being is formed even before its conception and the stages of growth with all its needs. The teachers enjoyed the session and we believe that the insights received will help us enable in our personal and professional life.
